Principal in private practice providing representation to individuals in civil and criminal matters and providing advice to nonprofit corporations in regard to organizational matters.

 

2002    

Campaign Manager               Lorain, Huron, Seneca Counties, Ohio

Served as full-time campaign manager for Sue Morano (D) for State Senate.  Oversaw fundraising efforts, $600,000 budget, voter contact, field operations, media strategy, volunteer recruitment and mobilization, and development of campaign messages.

 

1998-2002

City of Avon

Elected Member of Council

Served three terms as elected member of City Council, At-Large-the local legislative branch of municipal government.  Legal Committee & Chairperson of Finance Committee.

 

1994 - 2003

Grassroots Leadership Development Program Inc.  Lorain, Ohio

Executive Director

Designed and implemented training and capacity building program for local non-profit community based organizations to enhance abilities in areas of fundraising, public relations, and organizational development; designed innovative mini-grant program; provided advice, consultations and technical assistance to more than one hundred-twenty  local organizations; worked cooperatively with private foundations and community Board of Directors; supervised staff; and evaluated and adapted program to changing conditions.  In cooperation with national intermediaries, developed support system for new and emerging community development corporations for Lorain County including training, operating support, and access to capital, which resulted in increased capacity of the oldest community development corporation and in the establishment of three new community development corporations.

Program Director

Developed and implemented comprehensive neighborhood based community development program for low-moderate income neighborhood on Cleveland's west side under the auspices of the human services arm of organized labor, the AFL-CIO and its affiliates, the Teamsters, and the United Auto Workers.  Program included: advocacy, technical assistance, weatherization, code enforcement, owner-occupied housing rehab, vacant home rehab, storefront renovation, micro-loans, and commercial development.  Responsible for writing proposals for government and private funding to support the programs.
